Stair Railings
Lassonde Project
William Small Center, York University, Toronto ON
The project, led by GOW HASTINGS ARCHITECTS, included the creation of additional student study areas. The architects aimed to develop spaces that not only met the functional requirements but also fostered an inspiring and collaborative environment.
One of the key features of the expansion was the use of custom frosted panels in the stair railings. The architects envisioned these panels as integral elements that would contribute to the overall aesthetic and ambiance of the space. To fulfill this vision, we provided ¾” Daycora Railing Panels in a custom Frost Twilight Blue finish, complete with polished edges. These panels were carefully selected for their ability to diffuse light, creating a subtle and calming effect while maintaining a modern, sleek appearance.
The integration of these custom railing panels helped to elevate the design, adding both beauty and functionality to the staircases. The Frost Twilight Blue panels not only complemented the overall design but also provided a sense of continuity throughout the building. Van Horne Construction expertly executed the installation, ensuring that the final result was true to the architects’ vision. The finished project stands as a perfect example of how thoughtful design and high-quality materials can work together to create a space that is both functional and inspiring.
