Specifying Custom Decorative Panels

Daycora supplies custom decorative panels and finish development for architects, interior designers and project owners. Based in Woodbridge, Ontario, Daycora is part of the Plas-Tech group of companies. Use this guide to plan a sample request or project quotation.

Choose the appearance and application

  • Frosts: custom-colour frosted panels for light diffusion and visual privacy.
  • Metallics: mirror-look and brushed reflective finishes for furniture and decorative interior surfaces.
  • Textiles and Nature: digitally printed fabric, fibre and organic material effects on light-transmitting panels.
  • Patterns: printed decorative patterns adapted to your colours and scale.
  • Grains: printed wood and stone-look designs, with light-transmitting options for backlit features.
  • POV: your photography, artwork or graphics developed into decorative panels.

Compare substrates and dimensions

For Frosts, Textiles, Nature, Patterns, Grains and POV, the inquiry form lists acrylic, PETG, polycarbonate and tempered glass. Metallics lists PVC foam, aluminum composite and MDF. Material suitability, thickness and finish combinations are confirmed for the intended application.

The panel inquiry form includes 48 × 96, 60 × 96 and 72 × 96 inch sheet-size choices. These are request options rather than a promise that every substrate, thickness and finish combination is available in every size. Send the required dimensions, quantity, edge details and mounting needs so Daycora can confirm the proposed specification.

Plan privacy, translucency and lighting

Translucent finishes can transmit light while obscuring detail. They may still show silhouettes, especially when a person or object is close to a panel. Review the sample under the intended lighting, including backlighting where relevant, before choosing the privacy level.

Textile, nature, grain and image-based effects are printed designs. Their appearance should be assessed as a decorative finish, including the colour, pattern scale and transmitted light.

Review a digital proof and physical sample

Start with a collection design or send a colour-system reference, sample chip, material sample or high-resolution image. Daycora prepares a digital proof, followed by a physical sample for approval before full-sheet production. Sample charges may apply.

Once the sample is approved, order full sheets or discuss a finished project. Ask about project-specific fabrication, mounting and installation requirements.

What to include in your inquiry

  • Project location and intended application.
  • Finish collection, colour reference, artwork or material sample.
  • Preferred substrate, thickness, panel dimensions and quantity.
  • One- or two-sided finish and desired privacy or light transmission.
  • Edge, mounting, installation and schedule requirements.
  • Any required fire, impact, structural or other performance documentation for the specified assembly.

Performance depends on the selected substrate, finish, assembly and use. Request the relevant documentation for that combination; a decorative finish name alone does not establish a performance rating.
